Sustainability and responsibility in charter
We are of those that going out to sail is more than a pleasure, it is a necessity and, at the same time, every day we are more aware of the impact that boat rental has on the environment. Therefore, for our moral tranquility, to be part of the change, and for our clients, this 2019 we started to implement measures to contribute to the reduction of the impact on the environment in the charter sector. Our goal for 2020 is to improve this and to raise user awareness.
You will ask yourselves, and how do you contribute? And how can we do our bit? You are in luck, this year we will publish once a month an article on how to improve sustainable practices in recreational sailing, for charter user and brokers. From how to manage resources and waste during navigation, to what we do at Becharter with broken sails and how we choose the products we use for cleaning and maintaining the boats. It all adds up!
On 11 September 2019 we received ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System) from Natalia Varela, Service Delivery Manager Spain, Portugal and Cuba, Business Assurance at Lloyd’s Register Spain. In addition to ISO 9001 (Quality Management System), we are the first boat rental company to have both at the same time. What does obtaining this ISO entail? Keep reading.
The ISO 14001 certification demonstrates our commitment at Becharter to improving environmental performance. It indicates that in the company we care about the environment and that we put in place protocols for the care and preservation of the same, bringing peace of mind to the customer as we ensure that the processes are regulated.
At Becharter we care about the environment, but we don’t stay there, we act and work on the awareness of our clients. For example, there are labels strategically located on our ships where it is indicated how we can be more responsible with consumption and use (check our article about the use of the deposit of sewage), we encourage users to be responsible, to pollute as little as possible, etc. If we get to fall in love with the sea, it will be easier to become aware of our actions.
Do you like sailing and are worried about your environmental impact? At Becharter we make it easy for you. Call us (+34) 670 437 910 o (+34) 93 221 63 06 or email us if you have any questions.
